Our community of clients is growing all the time and we’re looking for empathetic, experienced carers who take pleasure in providing excellent care to join our dedicated team.
Working for Hamill is an experience unlike other caregiving. But who better than one of our carers to explain why.
Heather, who has been with us for three years, tells us what she loves about her job.
Emphasis on empathy
Hamill is great because it believes care can only work if empathy is at its core. After all, this is a human business which relies a lot on trust. So, we take the time needed to give the human touch to our service.
Longer visits
Quality care can’t be rushed. Nor should it. By making visits forty-five minutes minimum, Hamill Homecare allows us to look after our clients in a calm and careful way that avoids mishaps. Having longer also gives us time to form deeper relationships with the people we’re helping.
Going beyond the agreement
The care agreement covers the necessities, but we have the freedom to do much more for our clients. We get to know them personally, which isn’t always the case. Chatting and swapping stories, or puzzling over crosswords. One of my colleagues even sings to someone she visits.
Same faces, better care
Consistency makes caregiving better for both sides. If my client routinely sees the same faces on her care team, she’ll be more comfortable and have a better experience. The same works both ways. Because I see my clients regularly, we have a stronger connection so I know exactly what they need.
Perks of the job
First of all, your induction is paid, which always helps. Our uniforms are provided and replaced when needed. Mileage is subsidised. There’s a great mentorship programme to focus our aspirations and regular staff training (also paid) to grow our skillsets. Oh, and you get paid to do something you love. And the wages are good!
