Graded Outstanding by the Care Inspectorate 2023

This spring, we’re taking part in the Virtual Kiltwalk to raise funds for Carers Trust. Carers Trust is a great charity doing vital work. That’s why we’re coming together (virtually) to put on our kilts and our walking boots to take on this year’s Kiltwalk.

We’re fundraising for Carers Trust

The Carers Trust charity is committed to supporting all unpaid carers in the UK. The charity works to improve support, services and recognition for anyone living with the challenge of being an unpaid carer.

The charity reaches out to schools, helps shape policy and runs awareness campaigns to help people understand what it’s like to be an unpaid carer looking after a family member. We think their work is so worthwhile, especially with the pandemic making a huge impact on all carers.

It’s a cause that means a lot to our entire team, so when we saw that even Covid couldn’t stop the Kiltwalk, we knew we had to get involved virtually. We think it’s brilliant that the organisers have found a way to get as many people and charities involved safely by taking part at home.

The Virtual Kiltwalk

On the weekend of the 23rd – 25th April, we’ll be taking part in the Virtual Kiltwalk from home

Each of us will be running, walking, skipping or dancing our way through it while raising money for an amazing charity. It won’t be quite the same as all walking together but we’ll make the most of it!

And the best bit? The Sir Tom Hunter Foundation is topping up all donations by 50%. This means that every penny is worth twice the amount. All donations will go directly to the charity and help them with their important work.

We can’t wait to don our tartan and take part in such an amazing event. And knowing it’ll help out so many incredible charities.

Carers Trust: Our chosen charity

Carers Trust works up and down the UK, but in Scotland, it’s thought there are at least 690,000 unpaid carers in Scotland. This includes 29,000 young carers under the age of 18.

Carers Trust helps to provide emotional and financial support to unpaid carers, young and old. They aim to make carers life that bit easier.

A staggering statistic is that the value of unpaid care provided by carers in Scotland is £10,347,400,000 a year. It’s also estimated that three out of five of us will become carers at some stage in our lives and 1 in 10 of us is already fulfilling some sort of caring role. Carers Trust speaks out on behalf of all unpaid carers to ensure they receive adequate support for the work they’re doing.

On their website, you can view Lottie’s story on the Carers Trust website and find out a little more about who you’ll be helping. Your donations really do make a difference.

How you can help!

You can donate to our Kiltwalk fundraiser here. And remember, every donation is being topped up by 50% courtesy of the Sir Tom Hunter Foundation. That means your money is twice as valuable to the Carers Trust.

To help us, you could share our link on social media or share any of our Kiltwalk social posts. We really appreciate this is a tough time for many people and so every share counts.

The charity uses vital donations to support unpaid carers at school, work. Carers Trust also provide practical support to those who need it. The charity also collects useful data which informs government policy, ensuring that carers have a voice.
